Sedation for Pain Management-Billing, Coding & Documentation

Last year’s implementation of new multijurisdictional Medicare policies for Facet Injection Procedures and Epidural Steroid Injections has shaken up the world of interventional pain management. Commercial payers, along with Medicare, have issued their own guidance surrounding moderate sedation and MAC for these same procedures. So how do we get ourselves back into a position of feeling confident with the services that we provide, document, code, and bill for? In this session, we will discuss the continuum of sedation, payer policies, calculation of moderate sedation time, and the new anesthesia codes for injection procedures.
